The mission of the Pittsburg Unified School District Athletic Department is to provide students with an opportunity to compete successfully in a sports program that enriches their educational experience. Participation in athletics will provide students to become involved with other students and their coaches in an educational experiencethat takes place outside the classroom.

The goal for our students is that they wiill learn a great deal from their participation in athletics. Lessons in sportsmanship, teamwork, competition and how to win and lose gracefully will assist in the positive development of the individual. Success should be defined and measured by asking ourselves how well we prepared our students for a productive life in our society.

Athletic competition adds to school spirit and helps all involved develop pride in their school. P.U.S.D. has adopted the "Pursuing Victory with Honor" philosophy. We encourage the development and promotion of sportsmanship, honesty, ethics, and integrity.
