Dear PUSD Parents and Families,
This time of year always makes me think of traditions. There are so many amazing educators in our district and many traditions that have been developed through the years. For the last 21 years, Ms. Juana Nesta has held a Thanksgiving Etiquette Luncheon before the break for her first grade class at Parkside Elementary. The first graders come dressed to impress and use the manners they have learned over the previous weeks. Along with using the utensils, they hold chairs for each other, give compliments, and are just plain kind to each other as they enjoy conversation and a great meal. Many parents and family members help out and there is a true sense of community around the table with these first grade classmates. It's a wonderful tradition and a good reminder of the importance of gratitude and community.
However you and your family celebrate, I wish you the community, kindness, and good time of Ms. Nesta's first grade class!
This time of year is also a time when we expect to see a rise in colds, flu, and COVID cases. Please take care of yourselves. We sent home COVID-19 tests for you to use before your children return to school. The California Department of Public Health recommends using one the day before (Sunday, November 27th) and 2-3 days after returning to school (Tuesday, November 29th or Wednesday, November 30th).
All schools will be closed next week. The District Office is open Monday, November 21st-Wednesday, November 23rd. Our Community Predicine Testing Center at the Pittsburg Youth Development Center will be closed next week as well. The hours starting on November 28th are:
Monday: 7:30- 3 pm
Tuesday: 7:30- 3 pm
Wednesday: NO testing
Thursday: 10 am - 4:30 pm
Friday: 10 am - 4:30 pm
We will see you on the 28th! Remember to read over the break!

Estimados Padres y Familias del PUSD,
Esta época del año siempre me hace pensar en las tradiciones. Hay tantos educadores asombrosos en nuestro distrito y muchas tradiciones que se han desarrollado a través de los años. Durante los últimos 21 años, la Sra. Juana Nesta ha tenido un Almuerzo de Etiqueta de Acción de Gracias antes del descanso para su clase de primer grado en la Primaria Parkside. Los alumnos de primer grado vienen vestidos para impresionar y utilizan los modales que han aprendido durante las semanas anteriores. Además de usar los utensilios, sostienen las sillas unos para los otros, se dan elogios y son simplemente amables unos con otros mientras disfrutan de la conversación y de una gran comida. Muchos padres y familiares ayudan y hay un verdadero sentido de comunidad alrededor de la mesa con estos compañeros de primer grado. Es una tradición maravillosa y un buen recordatorio de la importancia de la gratitud y la comunidad.
Sea como sea que usted y su familia celebren, ¡le deseo la comunidad, la amabilidad y el buen tiempo de la clase de primer grado de la Sra. Nesta!
Esta época del año es también un momento en el que esperamos ver un aumento de los resfriados, la gripe y los casos de COVID. Por favor, cuídense. Enviamos a casa las pruebas de COVID-19 para que las usen antes de que sus hijos regresen a la escuela. El Departamento de Salud Pública de California recomienda usar una el día antes (domingo, 27 de noviembre) y 2-3 días después de regresar a la escuela (martes 29 o miércoles 30 de noviembre).
Todas las escuelas estarán cerradas la próxima semana. La Oficina del Distrito está abierta del lunes, 21 al miércoles, 23 de noviembre. Nuestro Centro de Pruebas de Predicine de la Comunidad en el Centro de Desarrollo de la Juventud de Pittsburg estará cerrado la próxima semana también. El horario a partir del 28 de noviembre es:
Lunes: 7:30- 3 pm
Martes: 7:30- 3 pm
Miércoles: NO hay pruebas
Jueves: 10 am - 4:30 pm
Viernes: 10 am - 4:30 pm
